Crisis Pregnancy Centers: Deception in Advertising, or Just Plain Deception
Crisis Pregnancy Centers (CPCs) exist to dissuade women from having abortions. In many instances, they misinform and intimidate women to achieve their goal.
CPCs are often designed to look like reproductive health care clinics but generally do not provide women with their full reproductive health options, provide full medically accurate and unbiased information, or make referrals.
Women describe being harassed, bullied, and given blatantly false information.
Many assert that their confidentiality has been violated, and that mistreatment by CPCs has threatened their health.
They also employ non-medically trained personel that insert medical instruments into women's vaginas. Do you know how to use that you Reich Robot?
I'm not sure about you, but only two people can be shoocked up in my vagina: my man and my gyne.
Representative Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) has introduced a bill, the “Stop Deceptive Advertising in Women’s Services” Act, H.R. 5052, to help protect women from the deceptive advertising practices of CPCs.
The bill authorizes the Federal Trade Commission to regulate the advertising practices of CPCs so they would not be confused with legitimate abortion providers or providers of abortion referrals.
