Outrageous Quote of The Day

“I’d be hard-pressed to say we’re not addressing the issues that mean something to the average hard-working taxpayer out there today.” – Majority Leader Bill Frist, Senate Floor, 8/1/06 .

Well, Mr. Cat Killer Frist, average hard-working taxpayers would be hard pressed to say that you are, in fact, addressing the issues that are most important to them. According to a July 27 Diageo/Hotline poll, the top four issues that American voters think should be priorities for Congress are (in order of importance):
1. The war in Iraq
2. Economy and jobs
3. Immigration
4. Health care

Thus far, these issues have ranked astonishingly low on the Majority Leader’s agenda, who has opted to concentrate on divisive, base-rousing issues like gay marriage, flag burning, and the estate tax, which again rears its ugly head this week.
