Recent Survey On EC Speaks Volumes

Two summers ago, I surveyed college students about their knowledge of emergency contraception. This project was funded through the University's School of Social Work as well as the local abortion fund.

Sadly, the majority of college women did not know much. One of the most alarming areas was that the majority of women believed Plan B was the same as RU-486.

A new study with similar results proves to me that this is not isolated and this is of serious concern. Women need to be educated about birth control in order to make educated, informed decisions about their reproduction.

We are not breeders. We are not vessels existing solely to incubate feti.

We are human beings, and the only ones who should be deciding when and if we are to become mothers. And if so, the number and spacing of said children. Not pharmacists, not hospitals, not religious leaders...and certainly not Big Government or Bozo the Clown.
