FDA Approves Cervical Cancer Vaccine!

I love me some good news!

The Food and Drug Administration on Thursday approved use of the vaccine, Gardasil, for use in girls and women ages 9 to 26.

Cervical cancer kills 3,700 women each year in the United States and hundreds of thousands more worldwide.

Gardasil is found to be 100% effective in preventing the 2 HPV strains that cause the cancer.

Gardasil can also prevent external genital lesions in women, including vaginal and vulvar lesions.

It remains unclear how widespread will be the use of the three-shot series, in part because of its $360 list price. However, it is expected that poor women will have little, if any, access to the vaccine.

The national Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices will decide June 29 whether to endorse routine vaccination with Gardasil. That endorsement is critical if a vaccine is to become a standard of care.

Conservative groups like Focus on the Family oppose making the vaccine mandatory for school admission. This is no surprise because this vaccine is gender-specific.

With FoF's anti-science "culture of life" agenda, it all boils down to the morality of women's bahavior. It all boils down to yet again imposing their warped belief system onto others.

And sadly in this case, it could lead to women's deaths.

Cause if FoF and the lot really cared about women, they would endorse this vaccine.

Instead, they say this:
"Abstinence is the best way to prevent HPV," says Bridget Maher of the Family Research Council, a leading Christian lobby group .
"Giving the HPV vaccine to young women could be potentially harmful, because they may see it as a licence to engage in premarital sex."

But they would rather see women die then risk the possibility that women become promiscuous with their "virginity or death" stance.

Let them whores die.
